Your hosts, their story and the history of Maison Farol

Guest house in Salles, Gironde

Our history and that of the house

Watch the interview with the Val de l'Eyre tourist office:

The house

The house was built at the end of the 19th century. It was used as a hospital during the Great War. It then became the village pharmacy.

In the 1960s, the Cazauvieilh family bought the house. They were a well-known forestry family in the village, and the Salles elementary school bears their name...

At the time, this house welcomed a large number of villagers for festive meals, because this family loved sharing and conviviality, and knew how to entertain.

When the last owner passed away in 2017, her heirs decided to sell the family home, hoping to find a buyer who would continue the family's values and traditions.
When we first visited this house, we fell in love with it and its history. It was with great honor that we were chosen by the heirs to acquire the house, as they liked our guest house project.

A child of the Sallois region would once again live here and keep the traditions alive.

We...

Fanny and Olivier have been the happy owners of this magnificent residence since the end of 2019. Our plan to buy an old house steeped in history and turn it into a guest house goes back several years. I, Fanny, have always dreamed of entertaining. Passionate about decorating and cooking, this professional future took shape around ten years ago. That's why, in 2014, I decided to leave my job as a sales assistant to take a CAP in cooking. In the years that followed, I worked in the restaurant business to train and learn, while waiting to find "La maison" to carry out my project. Today I've done it, and I'm very proud of the road I've travelled to get here. I hope I've made the right choices for our family's future, because Olivier has been supporting me and dreaming about this project with me from the start. It's thanks to all our efforts, our skills, our determination and our respective families that we're where we are now. So I'd particularly like to thank him and our daughter Romy - without them, without their strength, mine would surely have failed... Our home was born of this strength and this family: Farol.

We look forward to welcoming you for a room rental or for the meeting room.
